Dear all,
The 60th birthday of the People's Republic of
China is approaching and the traditional Chinese Moon Festival is
around the corner. To celebrate these two important festivals for
Chinese people, Berkeley Chinese Students and Scholars Association
(BCSSA) will be holding our annual Chinese National Day/Moon Festival
Celebration on October 3rd, next week Saturday.
The celebration is unique this year, as it is also the Final Round
of the Berkeley Chinese Singing Contest 2009 (more information at http://bcsc09.bcssa.us).
As you already know, the top 10 singers were selected from around 30
contestants in the Preliminary Round last Saturday. It is our great
honor to have the best 10 singers from the bay area (Berkeley,
Stanford, USF and UCSF) to perform for us. The audience will decide (by
voting) who the next super star will be!
In addition to the Singing Contest, there will also be wonderful
performances amply prepared by our artistic fellow Cal Bears including
choral singing, dancing, piano and many more. Besides that, join us in
the interactive games and bring home exciting prizes! The top prize
will be an iPod Shuffle! =)

 | Chinese Calligraphy Competition this Friday |
Dear BCSSAers,
The location and time of the Berkeley Chinese Calligraphy Competition is Wheeler 100, 3:00 to 6:00 this coming Friday 17th April.
We will have calligraphy workshop booth at upper sproul plaza from
11:00 to 3:00 also. If you could not make it for the competition from
3:00 to 6:00, you can take the competition at the calligraphy workshop
booth from 11:00 to 3:00.
We will prepare the contents for you
to write for the judging purposes. So you can come at any time
convenient for you within competition time and write your competition
entry on the spot. Paper, ink dishes and brushes will be prepared, but
it's preferable that you can bring your own brush, dishes and maybe
seals. Our judge is Victor Hsu, a notable Chinese Painting artist and Calligrapher. (美国中国画院院长,知名书画家:徐耀) We will announce the winners by email and post the results online on both BCSSA (http://www.bcssa.us/cms/index.php) and CCCB's websites (http://cccb.loonghu.cn/).
The
winners of the competition (1 1st prize,2 2nd prize, 3 3rd prize and 5
honorable mentions) will each receive a certificate signed by the judge
and a valuable gift (differentiated by prizes) prepared by us.
