Personal Statement

Hi Everyone, I am Xiaowei Lu, a fourth-year PhD student in psychology department of UC Berkeley. It is a great honor and pleasure for me to be the president of Berkeley Chinese Students and Scholars Association (BCSSA) 2009-2010. As an “old” member of BCSSA, I have witnessed the prosperity of BCSSA in the past years. In this organization, we share the happiness in daily life and support each other in difficulties. We show ourselves on the international stage and speak out in one voice as Chinese. In this year, we will keep on fulfilling the missions of BCSSA:

Serving the community: The most important mission of BCSSA is to make life easier for its members. From the new students’ pickup to the festival parties, from the mailing list to all activities, the ultimate goal of our efforts is to provide the best, even though not the prefect, service to our members and community.

Facilitating the success: The success of BCSSA is based on the success of its members. Therefore, we will try our best to help you achieve your goals. No matter what kind of difficulty you encounter, we hope we can give you help; no matter what kind of success you achieve, we hope we can celebrate together.

Providing opportunities: BCSSA will go on serving as a great platform for everybody to communicate and share information. Also, BCSSA will try its best to take advantage of being the biggest Chinese organization at UC Berkeley to provide its resources to its members.

Enjoying the life: Without you, BCSSA is nothing. Why be lonely? Why be sad? Why be overly stressed? Let’s enjoy life together.
